Parks and Recreation
The Lisle Park District stands as an excellent source of recreational opportunities in the community. This entity is responsible for coordinating a multitude of recreational programming for the Village. The Park District recently celebrated 40 years of service in the Lisle community in 2007. At its formation, the district covered 11 square miles and served a population of 7,000 people. Today, the Lisle Park District oversees approximately 18 square miles and serves nearly 33,000 area residents
Forty-two parks and facilities, plus over 500 acres of quality land are overseen by the Park District—included in that is the notable 110-acre Community Park, regarded as the Lisle Park District's centerpiece.

Community Park plays host to the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce's 5K/10K Race/Walk, which is open to all ages. Held in April, seven to 12-year-olds run a one-half mile race in the Youth Run, and ages three to six compete in the Tot Run, a 100-yard dash measured out on the Lisle High School practice football field.
Lisle Park District also operates the Meadows Center, featuring six acres of parkland, two ball fields, both outdoor and indoor playgrounds, and the majority of the Park District's indoor programming for everyone from early childhood to adult.
River Bend Golf Club is part of the Park District's offerings as well, and it is one of Illinois' top three nine-hole courses. The course's link-style layout spotlights scenic wetland areas, and water comes into play on eight of the nine holes. The par 36 design allows play up to 3,500 yards at the longest tee—three sets of tees are available at each hole. River Bend also has a PGA-approved clubhouse, which offers a full-line of custom equipment and apparel for all of one's golfing needs.

In addition to the variety of athletic programs sponsored by the Park District, ball players can hone their skills by signing up for instruction at the Bulls/Sox Training Academy. Owned and operated by the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago White Sox, the facility offers year-round league play, coupled with an array of training programs and access to a full health club.

While in the area, don't forget to visit The Morton Arboretum, situated along State Route 53, just north of Interstate 88. Open 365 days a year, the 1,700-acre botanical garden and world-renowned research facility houses a wide variety of plant collections and natural areas characterized by oak woodlands, wetlands, maple and elm collections, and restored native prairie. Special features at the arboretum include a four-acre Children's Garden, a one-acre Maze Garden with winding paths leading to seven “plant rooms,” a Visitor Center and a number of educational classes and programming.
